Why such a price difference:
Given that plastic objects are everywhere in our lives, it is assumed that they're cheap to make. In fact, they are, but only if tens of thousands of the same are made. Making a plastic injection mold for GB-303 would cost about $2500 upfront without counting engineering fees, and no factory will accept using the mold if there are less than 1000 parts ordered.
That's unfortunately how industry works. Quantity means discounts, small runs means expensive...
